[Opinions] Bartimaeus
Workable as a first name, yes or no? And why, of course, too. :)
Thank you!

No, I cant't see this as a middle name. It's definatly a kick-ass middle name though, especially after the character. I'd definatly use it. :-D
I'm glad you love the books so much - I finally got around to getting #3.

I've just stared the third book of the Bartimaeus trilogy, and he is my favorite character by far, so this gets a thumbs-up from me. Plus, I think it's neat-sounding. :) I see no reason why it couldn't be used as a first name, other than that it's not something you hear every day.
Sounds like a fusion of Bart Simpson and Amadeus. :b Yes, I know it's a legit name, but that's the first thing that pops into my head. Now I can't get the image of a Matt Groening styled Amadeus out of my head, LOL.
ETA: Is it usable. I don't see why not. If you don't love Bart as a nn, Tim is always an option. :)

It could work, but I really dislike the nn Bart. Also, some people might pronounce the ending MEE-us rather than MAY-us, but more likely than not, they will say bar-tih-MAY-us.
I think it would be a little difficult to pull off because of the fact that it's pretty long and has three vowels squashed together, but anything's possible :-)
NO, mainly because I wouldn't know how to pronounce it, let alone spell it.
Pronunciation is bar-tih-MAY-us, just as it looks.

Well its nms but I think it is workable as a first name because if alot of people use Bartholomew as a first name why not use Bartimaeus. I like Bartimaeus better than Bartholomew. Bartimaeus isn't that bad of a name just because its nms doesn't mean I hate it. I think its a workable name. It just has to be your taste in names is all :)
I don't think it's workable as a first name really. It's very archaic and heavy sounding, and the most likely nick name is Bart, which is very 'Simpsons'.
However, as a middlename I think it is quite acceptable and gives a nice change to the common mn's you get.
