I love Alva, I'd consider using it if it wasn't getting so trendy in Sweden. (It is a female name here.) I like elfs, and most elf-related names. Alva is very pretty and feminine to me, without being too delicate/ fragile/frilly. It is also short and simple in a way I like.

I've only ever heard it used as a male name (Thomas Alva Edison and a little boy I know named Alva), but it strikes me as more feminine. Not something I'd use, but it's not horrible.

I'm not sure whether you're considering this m or f. This was my grandfather's middle name (as well as Thomas Alva Edison's), so to me it is male. I like it because of the grandpa connection. But it's now out of style and I don't think most people have ever heard of it.

This is my bf's aunt's name. It's ehh.. OK. It doesn't really grab my attention.
