Help[Opinions] Lara can rhyme with Sarah...?

Is Sarah pronounced differently in the US? Over here, Sarah is "SARE-ruh", and Lara "LAH-ruh".
Also, is Lara often used as a alternative spelling of Laura? Over here, they're two different names.

Laura is pro. a bit differently in some areas.
My SIL has a sister named Laura, and it is pro. LAH-ruh. The rest of the time it is pronounced lor-A (that's the best I can do.) Lara is pronounced a few different ways here - lare-a and LAH-ruh. I actually prefer the first one because it's what I'm used to.
A good example of Laura being pronounced LAH-ruh is in Sleeping With the Enemy
