It is not clear to me which word is being translated as Syon, I would need to see the spelling in the original language. There is a famous scolar whose name is properly transliterated as sAYaNa in one of the schemes, and whose name, though used in Sanskrit, is probably of Dravidian origin. I do not know the meaning of this name. There are other possible derivations if the spelling is different.
