I've never seen Amyas before. I assume it's related to Amias, which is pronounced "AY-mee-us." Despite the obvious similarity to the female name Amy, I don't find Amias feminine at all. It has an old-fashioned air of grace and gentility.

Actor Amyas Godfrey from the 80s Nick show You Can't Do That On Television pronounces his name Am-mee-us.

I am guessing that it's a variant of Amias, which I pronounce ah-MY-is. Occasionally, I have heard it pronounced ah-MEE-is though. It could go either way.

I think it's pronounced Am-yis.
