Name is Latinized form of Chinese Kong Fu Zi. On a posting it's said that His surname Kong means a "hole, opening". This is true, but Fu = Husband or Man & Zi= Son. They're also correct(on the surface: character by character meanings). But in ancient China, Fuzi was one term, not separated into two: It means "Teacher" or what they call him now a "Sage", not "Husband & Son" or "Man & Son".
