I think of John Lennon. I know a little boy called Lennon (he's 2) and he's adorable so i don't dislike it

I pronounce Lennon and Lenin differently (len-nun vs len-in) so, no, I don't think of Lenin when I see Lennon.I think of John Lennon (so, good, if that's what the attention is), the fact that one of the Oasis (Gallagher) brothers has a son called Lennon (Liam, I think), who, I believe, was also named because of John Lennon. It's all right, not a favourite but the nn Len or Lennie would be cute.

I think John LennonI didnt think of Lenin until you mentioned it. I think most people, at least in the US would think John Lennon. If you are going for a tribute to J.L. then its okay. I would say use John, but its so common, it wouldnt work too well for people to recognize right away. Its surnamey, so I dont care for it, but I am not completely against it like some others. If you like it, and want to make sure people know you are honoring J.L., I say it works great, and for you to use it.

It only makes me think of John Lennon. I don't get the two confused but I've noticed that Americans pronounce Lennon and Lenin the same way, my husband can't tell a difference, but our English friends don't.
I'm a big John Lennon fan, but I would never use Lennon as a name, I guess because it is too much him. Possibly as a MN.

On the one hand, I think of John Lennon which is a GREAT association..
But on the other hand it makes me think of Lenin which is not such a great association..
This is a hard one. I think that if it was used, it would be better placed as a middle name. That way you could use it but still save a child from confusion.

One time, some girl asked me what I knew about Lennon, so I started off with "Well, he was a communist..". She just kind of stared at me weirdly and said "I meant John Lennon," and my response was "Oh. Well.. he was a communist.." She was somehow offended and never spoke to me again. My friends thought it was terribly amusing and tease me about it :P I still blame it on the cold medicine I was taking. So um.. yes, back on point, it does make me think of Lenin. It also doesn't sound very attractive to my ears, so it gets a no from me.
