I don't like Jesse on a boy. It seems lower class for some reason to me. Maybe because it is like a nickname but there is nothing for it to me a nickname to. I've never liked.
I don't think though that you shouldn't use it just because of all the female Jessie's, Jessy's, Jessi's, etc. Most of the time, they are all Jessica's anyway.
