Over the past few weeks, I've really been liking Eu- names, like Euphemia, Eudora, Euthalia, etc. Eudocia recently caught my eye and I'm really liking it. I'm guessing it's pronounced like yoo-DOE-see-uh. Docia or Doci are possible nicknames. Wdyt?
Also, kind of unrelated, does anyone know how Eudoxia is pronounced? I'm not sure if it's yoo-DAHK-see-uh or yoo-DOKE-see-uh, or maybe something completely different.

Eudoxia, "yoo-DOX-ia," has been a guilty pleasure of mine since I began studying Russian history. Eudoxia was Peter the Great's first wife. The only down side to this name is the obvious nn Doxie. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a doxie a slang term for a prostitute?
For this reason, Eudocia has always struck me as a happy alternative to Eudoxia. Nn Doci / Dosie is darling.
The Greek form of this name is gorgeous as well: Evdokia, "ev-duh-KEE-a." So elegant it hurts.
"Eu-" names have a fascination for me as well. My favorite at the moment is Eugenia / Eugenie, but they all call to me. :-)

I LOVE Euphemia, especially its nn, Effie. Eudora and Euthalia are too old and unusual, respectively, for me. Eudocia is...interesting, but I doubt I'd use it, and the nn's do nothing for me. I kinda like Eudoxia, because it's historical. I always use the second pronunciation when I read the name. BTW, what do you think of Eunice? It's an "Eu-" name that I've grown to like.

Strangely enough, I've never liked Eunice. Perhaps I could grow to like it, but for some reason it's nms. Funny how that works! =P

I would guess DAHK for Eudoxia.

As for the matter at hand, I am undecided. If the prn were Yoo-doe-jzah, I would be swell on it. If it is Yoo-doe-see-ah, I am not thrilled with it. It reminds me of do-see-do. I imagine you are correct, though, so eh. I say go with the other, better Eu- names. :)

I am not a fan of Eu names for various reasons.
When I first saw Eudoxia I was thinking DAHK pn (even before I saw your choices)

I like it, though I slightly prefer the varient Eudoxia nn Doxie (which I pr. yoo-DAHK-ee-ah, though I have no idea how it should really be pronounced; I am a chronic mispronouncer).
