[Opinions] Cathy?
I notice that Cathy as a nn for Catherine is gone out of fashion in favour of Kate or Katie. I've been liking Cathy more and more as I hear it less and less. WDYT? Is it too 70's now, too oldish to use? Just out of curiosity, what forms of Catherine/Katherine do you prefer? These are mine:Cathy
Kathe
Katya
Katia
Katerina
Ekaterina
Catriona
Catalin
Karen
Kathleen

I tend to think of Cathy as a baby boomer name, so I've never had a desire to go by Cathy. I get called Cath a lot, though. My favorite nn for Catherine is Kitty (I tried to go by this once, but it never caught on). Most Catherine/Katherines I who are my age go by Kate or Katie. As for other forms of Catherine, I like Katia, Katarina, and Catriona.

I've always liked it, but prefer the Kathy spelling. I think it would be cute on a little girl these days.I like Kathy, Katherine, Kathleen, Kate and Katie.

I think Cathy / Kathy could make a comeback. I know quite a few, and all are mothers of friends/(ex)boyfriends - at least 45 years old. I think it would be refreshing to hear it as a nn once again, because i am so sick of KateI really just like Kathryn, Karen, and Kathleen isnt bad.

Cathy is going out of style, not sure why... It has never been my personal favorite... but neither has Kate or Katie... the only time I do like it is with a C... Cate.I like:Katharine
Catriona

Cathy/Kathy is, in the Unitde States, very dated. It, along with Nancy, Donna and Diane, screams 50 year old middle school teacher, always on a diet but always about ten or twenty pounds overweight. lolI don't really like it, mainly because I dislike the th sound in names, but I do prefer it to Katie, which is childish and cutesy to me. I don't like Catherine much, but I do like Kathleen, Katrina and Karen. Kate is okay too.

I only like Catherine with a C for some reason, I don't like the way it looks with a K at all, yet if I were to use Catherine I would give her the nn Kitty. I like Cathy only because I know a really sweet girl with that name who is my age (22). So really I think it is usable, but I personally probably wouldn't use it as a nn.

I can't stand the name Cathy for some reason. I don't really like any nns for Katherine, Kate or Katie are ok though.

Cathy, especially when spelled with a C, reminds me of Wuthering Heights, and Catherine (Cathy) Earnshaw. Soooooooo romantic. Love it.I like Kate, etc. But at this point Cathy would be a breath of fresh air. My favorite forms of C/Katherine are Cathleen, and Catriona.

Absolutely not too 70s! I would use Cathy as a nickname for Catherine if I were to use it. I prefer Catherine with the C.

I love Katya, Ekaterina, Catriona and Karen.
I think I would like Cathy more if I didn't have massively bad family associations with that name.
I only like Cathy and Catherine with a C, for some reason.
I also know Catherines that go by things such as Terry, Trina, Tina, Thea, Kitty, Erin, and Cat.
I like Tina, Thea, Kitty and Cat.
