Dear Mom and Dad,
After much negotiation, we have a new pet in the house. I was picketing for a puppy, but Merlin wanted a boa constrictor. I like snakes, but don't care to own one that's bigger than me, so we settled on a pretty little corn snake instead. His name is Aries. He won't get as big as a boa, only about 5 feet according to the breeder, and he's very tame. We keep his tank in Merlin's office, which is usually locked and off-limits to the kids, so they can't play with him unsupervised. He's not a "cuddly" pet, which bothered the younger kids at first. (Indy took to him right away. She's just like her dad!) We think having a snake will be a good experience for the kids, though.
We talked about getting a dog sometime in the future, but currently those plans have been put on hold, since we've just discovered that we're going to have another addition to the family! Yes, you read that right. Merlin and I have been talking about having another baby for a while, especially since the triplets started kindergarten this year. We haven't been "trying," per se, so it was still a bit of a surprise. We haven't told the kids yet, but we will soon. Hopefully they'll be as excited about their new brother or sister as they are about the snake!
