You are named after the Guadalcanal Canal you should be very proud of this, Alot of people put there tears, blood and pride in this canal.
Do you mean "Guadalcanal"?
Guadalcanal is not a canal, although its name comes partly from the Latin word "canalia", meaning "a canal" or "waterpipe". But Guadalcanal is actually a volcanic island, the largest of the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean. Did your father or grandfather fight in World War II, and possibly you were named after the famous battle of Guadalcanal?
Here is a website, which will give you the origin and meaning of the name of that island:

Yes he did. I was told he came up with the name from a dream. He also fought with someone named Dale . Gwadelle is what he came up with for short I was called Delle Anne . My full name is Gwadelle Anne Hood. He was a Free Mason.

The meaning of your name is from the well known Guadalcanal, It's a very proud name to have if you take into consinder the amount of tears, blood and pride that went into building the canal.
P.S.
Silly me -- if you're Hispanic (which you appear to be from your name) -- then you were probably named after the Spanish village of Guadalcanal, and not the more historically famous island which took its name from the village.
Am I right?
