Help[Opinions] WDYT of Miranda?
I've been thinking about the name Miranda lately. I really like it, but I have mixed associations. On the plus side is Shakespeare's Tempest, whereas on the negative side is the reading of Miranda rights ("you have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be held against you...")
Two questions:
1. What associations do you have for Miranda, and do you immediately think of law enforcement?
2. I noticed on the Social Security website that Miranda was #118 in 1990, steadily rose and peaked at 57 in 1995, and has steadily declined to 160 in 2003. Why do you think the name rose and fell in popularity relatively quickly? (I like that it is not too common now, but I am wondering if I am unaware of some pop culture phenomenon--a celebrity, an evil movie character, whatever--that contributed to its decline.)

The only association I have with it is that's my friend's daughters name. I think it's a very pretty name. I can't explain it's drop in popularity-nothing I know of.

Miranda was the name of one of the characters in one of my stories. She became a mother at 16, and ran away from her husband and children at 25. Don't worry, things work out, because she later on realizes what she could be doing to the children by not being around and comes back. So of course, I don't think of law enforcement, just a change of heart.
I don't know why Miranda declined in popularity. Could be just a nation-wide loss of interest. I does happen.

I love it! the only thing i think of is Shakespeare and the book The Good People of New York by Thisbe Nissan (Another name i am starting to like) in the book the character is named Miranda after her parents see the Tempest while pregnant. I don't know why it suddenly "went out of style" but i don't mind that it did since i don't like using names that are very popular.
