I have a renewed interest in the name Kimberly nn Kimi. What's your thoughts?

I like it especially with nn Kmmi. I work with a woman named Kimma she's about 50 years old and very classy and pretty!!

I'm not crazy about it, personally. But I have good personal associations with the name. My best friend is Kimmie--not Kimberly or Kim, her formal name is Kimmie. This has caused her some headaches, though. So I'm glad that if you're going to do Kimi, you'll give her the full name of Kimberly. I just find the name to be outdated now. Sorry.

Kimberly does sound dated to me, but it has a nice flow. If you like it, stick with the full name....
I see Kimi as a separate name from Kimberly. As another poster noted, it is a Japanese name; the Kimi I know is pronounced "Kee-mee."
With respect to Kim...I could probably name at least 30 people I know who have Kim as a last name (it's one of the most common Korean surnames). It also makes me think of the story by Rudyard Kipling.

I know a Kimi! But that is her real name. Her parents liked the Japanese name and meaning. Kimi has seven children. I was their babysitter, and I miss them SO much. :)

Well its my name and i quite like it!
I have never actually met anyone with my name in England and its not really that common here either.
I mostly go by Kim (im now 21) but lots of people do call me Kimberlie and when i was younger used to get called Kimmy but not that often which is good because i don't really like it!

I am sorry, but I abosulety detest the name Kim and all varitions!
Mainly every Kim I have come across has had a bad impression on me, in numerous ways. The name is ruined for me. Although it would make some nice combos I think with some names I like, but I could never use it and every Kim I meet will probably take some time getting used to, even if she is a great person.

I'm not crazy about Kimberly or Kimi...it reminds me too much of the 80s. I like Kimberlyn or Kimber personally. That's just my opinion.

It is a bit dated, but not in a bad way, I don't think.
I prefer Kimmie or Kimmy, or just Kim; Kimi is okay. I think most young women will outgrow Kimmie/Kimi by age twelve and switch to Kim or the full name Kimberly . . . if not by 12, then by 20.
Personally I don't care for the name Kimberly, for two reasons: the -berly part of it is unattractive to me, like the words burly and cumbersome; and because of a very bad personal experience with a very bad Kimberly, that is of no consequence for you of course.
I like Kim and Kimmie though. A couple Kims I grew up with were very cool people; there's Kim Basinger; and there's figure skater Kimmie Meissner, who is slightly annoying but lends dignity to an otherwise somewhat childish name (she's pretty young herself, and I'm betting she will switch to Kimberly when she's fully grown).

I like Kimberly although it's a bit of an 80s bimbo name, and I prefer the spelling Kymberley nn Kym because that's my cousin's spelling, hence it's the one I'm used to.
Kimi is ok, but a little too cute and insubstantial for me. As long as it's only Kimi when the child is young, and matures to Kim when she's older, there's nothing wrong with it, although I prefer the more robust spelling, Kimmie.
