As for pronunciation, I suppose in some accents they'd be the same. But in North America, they're pronounced very differently: Rowan's RO-an, while Rohan's RO-hawn.
Robin, Rolan / Roland, Roman, Ronen, Rónán (Ronan), Roshan, Rowland, and Roydon could be alternatives.
