[Opinions] Re: Nevaeh
in reply to a message by Miss Natla
I might think it sounded decent if I only heard it said aloud, as nuh-VAY-uh ... and never realized it was heaven backwards. I'd picture it spelled Naveia or somesuch, and wonder if it was an invention. The Na- part at the beginning isn't my thing -- it sounds negative to me.
But every time I see it written down, I say to myself, "NEH VAH EH ... duhhh." It looks so stupid. Pronouncing a word backwards just isn't pretty. It's absurd. I'm not just trying to be snarky when I say that Nevaeh honestly looks to me like a name that someone mentally disabled would give her daughter. It looks disadvantaged, pathetic. Even if I didn't know it was heaven backwards, I'd think so... as long as it was spelled Nevaeh, anyway.
However, I admit I've never met a person named Nevaeh in real life, and I think meeting a real person named that might mitigate the negative reaction I have to it.
