To be fairish, I read a good article once about how Old Testament names like Noah and Abraham, Sarah and Abigail seemed psychologically suited to the pioneering spirit of nineteenth-century America. It sort-of works!
Also, a name that looks like bad taste to me in my green suburban surroundings might be the only way a ghetto parent can express her originality.
