Dear Dad and Mom,
I hope the weather in Florida is warm and sunny. Here we are freezing and buried under nearly a foot and a half of snow. As much as I don't like the snow, I would rather be up here then down there. Swimming in the middle of January sounds wrong to me. I'm sure the two of you are having a grand time in the retirement community. We all miss having you two up here now.
Everything on the home front is all over the place. The kids are doing good in school. Everyone is on the honor roll but Giovanna who is having trouble with several of her classes. Now that she is getting extra help in class her grades have significantly improved though.
Connor was giving us some trouble and throwing the whole "you're not my parents" thing in our face again. He dropped out of high school last year as you know but a few months ago he managed to get his GED. Talus and I are relieved. He's moved out and is now living with his girlfriend. He would come over but it's wasn't often that he would bring Hannah with him anymore.
Apparently Hannah was pregnant and scared to death about telling Talus and myself the news since they know how hard we have been on Connor in the past because of his minor drug use and run in with the law. And Hannah was scared that we might try to get custody of the baby since she is only 17 and Connor was still having a rough time.
The two of them finally sat down with us and we had a calm discussion and worked through things. We gave them our word we would not try to take their child from them, but we do want to help if we can. Connor said he wanted to be there for the baby and promised that he would try to get his act together and get a better job so he can support the baby and Hannah.
A handsome baby boy named Q-Piddh Kayden was born at 4:17am this past Tuesday. He has dark hair and looks like Connor did when he was born. To our surprise they named the baby after Talus. Connor says he named the baby after his "dad" since he's been there for him these past few years, ready to help Connor whenever even though he never realized it until now. This baby has opened up Connor's eyes.
Keep an eye out in the mail. Connor and Hannah have mailed you some pictures of Q-Piddh.
I hate to cut this short, but I promised I'd go and visit the new family now that they are all settled in at home.
