I'm not huge on
Roxana or
Roxanne, but I've heard worse. I think I prefer
Roxana between the two. I can appreciate some things about it, like how it falls into the "not unheard of but still uncommon" name category. But it's just never been a favorite of mine. It's growing on me--I don't outright dislike it like I used to--but I'm not in love with it, either. For someone else's kid I'd be all about it, I think. I'd have to say that what bothers me most about
Roxana /
Roxanne is the potential for the nickname
Roxy or
Roxie, which reduces an interesting name to something that I think sounds a wee bit on the trashy side.
For the slightly more daring, I recommend
Roxelana. :-)
