It is not like the names fell down from heaven. People used words as names, just like my name, which means she-wolf.
And since "colleen" does not mean "girl" in English, I don't see the problem.
Erin is another Irish name, not used in
Ireland. Does not mean that it cannot be used outside
Ireland.
