[Facts] Re: pronunciation - Mielikki
You can hear the pronunciation using this Finnish speech synthesizer: http://www.mikropuhe.com/demo.asp (Type the word you want in the text field and click "Kuuntele puhe.")It's three syllables: MIE-lik-ki.In the first syllable, ie is a diphthong--a short i followed by a short e (ih-eh). It's kind of like the English diphthong AY (which is a short e followed by a short i) reversed. The second syllable is pronounced like the English word "lick."The i in the third syllable is short--like in "kick."Both k's are pronounced. (Think of English words like bookkeeper or black cat.)Was that complicated enough? :)
