I really like both names and feel you would have a good choice with either.
I love Veronica Clara - no one suggested that yet. Yes, it's a little sing-song-y. But in a good way.
While I'm sick of Lily, I don't mind it as middle name, and Veronica Lily comes to mind. In fact Veronica Lily is so familiar it is probably the name of some character or real person, that I had heard mentioned sometime, but forgot about.
Therefore, if you like Veronica Lily, like I do, and you can't think of any associations, I would google it, and if you don't find any negative association, I would go for that.
So my suggestions:
Veronica Clara - you and your husband both get to use the names you like
Veronica Lily - baring any weird or negative associations that could exist, but I can't think of right now.
