[Facts] Re: How to pronounce Braonan (accent on the last 'a')
in reply to a message by Luke
Actually, "ao" in Irish is pronounced somewhere between the German ö and ü, often leading especially to the ü -- which, like the Greek y, is a cross between "oo" and "ee" in English. Due to the tremendous velocity at which most Irishmen speak, it often sounds (as the Greek sound did to the Romans) like an "ee".
