I can see this one as an unfortunate anglicisation of an Indian name- Deethar might have been better?
There are some Indian names which can be very awkward in an enlgish context...a friend teaches in Vancouver, and she swears up and down that she her school had a poor child named Rammitdeep. And, in her school, the problem isn't "charlotte the harlot," but "harjot the harlot"
