I like Kimberly a lot and I actually am okay with Kim as a nn, I don't think of African diamonds though.
I know 4 Kimberlys all spelt that way they are 35, 17, 18, and 16 and all have the nn Kim. I don't know any of their mns. I do think the immigrant theory makes sense,because all of the teenage Kim's I know are Asain, with 2 of them being Vietnamese and the other Korean and all of their parents came to the US either shortly before or shortly after they were born and wanted an American name.
