I don't know so much about Latin specifically, but w/ Span. o endings are more common w/ boys than w/ girls for names that have forms for both genders... and since tv shows and movies aren't always the best sources to draw from, it may be worth looking into to see if maybe that's a male form w/ Domina or something similar for the fem. form.

I was surprised an -o ending name was considered feminine too...I checked with my languages professor too.
