Jaime, pronounced HIE-may, is the Spanish version of James, in the same way that Juan, pronounced WON, is the Spanish version of John. So to Spanish speaking people, Jaime is a male name pronounced HIE-may. English speaking people tend to think of it as a girl's name pronounced JAY-mee.Jaime, pronounced JAY-mee, is my nephew's full name. It's always irritated me. I agree with some posters here that a full name of James with the nickname Jamie would have been better, but my sister didn't want James because she feared the nickname Jim. Why the spelling, I don't know.
