The spelling of the village is not MAIERATA but MAIERATO. It is situated near Vibo Valentia the main town of the province in Calabria region.
A surname Jallone existed as well. Two italians with this surname are listed in Ellis Island site. But their origin is not clear.
Apparently each year meeting between schoolboys and italian emigrants are organized at Maierato every year: this happened at least untill 2005.
