I prefer the Ermengarde spelling, but regarding the way the name *sounds*, I think it's very pretty. It reminds me of Howard Vandergelder's niece from 'Hello, Dolly!', with her floofy dresses and pretty ribbons, and her super-tall sweetheart, Ambrose. (another name I really like)
