[Opinions] Re: Tierany
in reply to a message by Joiya
Yep! We went to my cousin's cabin once, and it's pretty out in the sticks and the waitress at a bar we went to was named Tierany. My sister really liked it, and was seriously going to name my niece this but decided she looked more like a Madyson then Tierany at the last minute. It was Tierany, Serenity or Madyson. My sisters aren't known for their good taste in names though.

uh... ok, Well I can see the pattern.
Am actually surprised at how popular Serenity is. But both Madyson and Serenity are much better than Tierany.
It's funny that she liked it because of the waitress. Before we named our daughter, I really liked the name Gillian. But, then we realized that the waitress at the local Bob Evans is named Gillian (my mom gets pancakes there every Saturday). We didn't want our kid thinking we named her after the waitress at Bob Evans. ;)

My entire family was trying to persaude her away from Tierany, so even though I'm not crazy about Madyson (especially the spelling) but it's so much better than Tierany.
Even if she went with Tierany, the bar was about 3 hours from where we live so the Tierany's wouldn't have crossed paths. Knowing my sister though, she'd end up telling her daughter she named her after a waitress who worked a placed called The Knob.

And that is exactly the kind of story one should avoid when naming. We get so much from our name - I feel like people should put a little more consideration into deciding what to stamp on the birth certificate.
Even if I had a terrible name, I would rather hear I got it for a good reason.
