It is often so difficult to trace the original words through all the phonetic change that happens ... so, I can never be sure that it does not have a Sanskrit origin. But, I know passable Sanskrit, and no word pops up with that meaning.
The phonologically closest word whose meaning set overlaps "sun" in Sanskrit that I can think of is Aditya. That, is too far, in my mind, though.
