I can't make myself really like it. It sounds spitty, like you would be spraying spittle as you say it. Seems dowdy and drab.
However, I really like the nickname Dorrie for Dorothy. Much better than Dot.

They like Dorrie too. Part of the appeal of the name is definitely nickname options. I think Dot/Dottie are especially appealing because of the character in 'A League of Their Own.'
