[Opinions] Re: Marjatta
in reply to a message by Remora L.
Marjatta is a name I'd seriously consider using if I had a daughter. Or rather, since I have a girl combo I'm 99 % set on using, I would seriously consider naming my (very hypothetical) second daughter Marjatta. If I wanted to use a pet name, I'd use Manna or Malla, not Jatta. I prefer Marjatta as a first name, it has so much potential it feels almost like a waste to hide it in the middle name slot.
My favourite Marjatta combos are Marjatta Elsi, Marjatta Saara (I'm not sure if it has too much a's and r's!) and Louna Marjatta. I like Marjatta best combined with a shorter (two syllable) name.
Out of your combos, my favourites are Marjatta Ester, Marjatta Saskia, Olga Marjatta and Aina Marjatta. Aina Marjatta used to be one of my favourite combos!

I agree with this so much! Actually, using longer names mainly as middle names kind of bugs me in the Finnish naming customs. Why couldn't the longer name be the first name: you can always make shorter nicknames out of it! But then again, I still tend to prefer this "two syllable name + three syllable name" format. For example, I'd prefer your combos put other way round: so, Elsi Marjatta and Saara Marjatta rather than Marjatta Elsi and Marjatta Saara.
