Urhg. I'd forgotten that these are LOTR names. That takes away some of the charm for me, as real-people names. Although they're not nearly as well associated as, say, Arwen or Aragorn.
The flower name melilot is pronounced with the T in English, according to the dictionaries I checked.
I suppose you might or might not spell it Melilotte. Either way you spelled it, some French people would probably be annoyed - either because Melilotte is "made up," or because you're pronouncing the T in Melilot. I googled Melilotte and got the screen name of an auction bidder (in Dutch), and the title of an operetta.. so it's not totally unprecedented.
:sigh: I like that name Melilotte..
I guess it's a shade too fanciful for me to use on a real kid though. I'd be excited if someone else used it though.
