Cordelia reminds me of bloody umbilical cords.

You have both summarised why I cannot bring myself to like either Cordelia or Cornelia.
I did know a Cornelia, she was (well, is) an academic and a really lovely lady. You sort of get past the corn when it’s a real person, but I still can’t make myself like the name.
I think Nell would be a sweet nickname though.
