[Opinions] Re: Animal nicknames
Nicknames are often unplanned and had little to do with your real name.In the US TV show The Office, Angela is called 'Monkey' by Dwight. My mother often calls people lamb or bunny out of affection, and I know a couple of little boys called Teddy or Bear when their names are unrelated. When they're no longer toddlers they can go back to their full names.I read a book on by Shirley Jackson where Mary Catherine was "Merry Cat" (I forget the spelling). Some of these are really dumb:Melissa "Bee" (for the meaning)
Anthony "Ant"
Bridget "Birdie"
Tabitha "Tabby"
Henrietta "Hen"
Tony "Tiger"
Berenice "Bunny"
June "June Bug"
Peregrine "Falcon"
Gulnar / Gulnara "Gull"
Wolfgang "Wolf"
Pandora "Panda"
Devora "Dove"
Delphine "Dolphin"
Keturah "Kitty"
Reuben or Ruby "Roo" (as in Kangaroo or any Jo name for a Joey)
Swanhilda "Swan"Literally any name beginning with a letter J for Jay.
