[Opinions] Re: Soren
It's probably just me: my husband loves and studies Scandinavian languages, and when we were at school a friend had a boyfriend named and pronounced Søren. So it's something I'm aware of. In the US, is the so- (or sø-) pronounced like the so- in sodden or in soaring?

I've seen it pronounced like soaring.

The boyfriend in question said it rather like Sirrin.

Yeah in scandinavian languages that letter will sound somewhere between "ih" or "uh," but in the US, they would definitely pronounce it like "soar-in." You guys could pronounce it like Sirrin at home, but at school, I guarantee the kids would be saying it the american way, and he probably would too. Both ways sound nice in my opinion, so I don't think it would be a big deal.
