traditionaly

if you pronounce it LINE you spell it Madeline and if you pronounce it LYN you spell it Madeleine
and i love Madeleine (lyn) i plan to use the name Nola Madeleine

not necessarily...

I'd say if it's spelled Madelyn, then it's LYN, and if it's Madeleine or Madeline, then it's LINE.
