Help[Opinions] Coventina
Coventina is an old Anglo-Saxon name that is the name of a nymph. It also is found in other languages as well. Atleast this is what I have found in books. I was wondering if Coventina is too 'witch-y' or 'witchcraft' sounding? Is Coven any better if used on a boy?

I think Coventina is fine, very pretty and mysterious but i definitly think christian when i hear this 'the covenant', but for delicate types only. Coven...no, i think that's a bit much!! Why not call him warlock? No, sorry, i'm not criticising, Covenant is nicer or better, Coventine (coven-TYN). But no one would blink an eye at Pagan for either gender - i've heard this a lot recently.

Oh, I really wasn't going to use the name...I just recently saw it. Maybe that was important to mention. I don't think I would use it on a real child, maybe on a character though.

Coventina does sound vaguely witchy, but I think the bigger problem is that it sounds made-up. It makes me think of Thumbelina and Cinderella and other names that come from a word with a feminine ending attached. Coven, imo, is totally inappropriate for both genders, as that name does have a witchy meaning.

I think it's trying too hard to be witchy. Coven would be ok for a mn for a girl or boy imo.
Coventina just sounds like Coven with a -tina tacked on the end to feminize it.

yeah I think it sounds quite witchy. I wouldn't use it for that association, but also I just don't care for the sound. Coven would be worse, not better.

It sounds a bit too 'churchy' for me. I think Coven is definitely better, and I really like it actually.
