Karolina is legit (it's the Polish, German, and a few others form), and so is Karol, though it's masculine- Karol on a girl would be odd, and I assume that's what you meant. It's not a trendy K spelling.
I do agree that Carolina looks so much nicer! I'm tired of even legit Ks. Maybe that's really what you meant and I just misinterpreted because I'm tired- if so, I'm sorry!

I'm not from Poland, Germany, or a few others, so to me it looks entirely contrived. I understand now that it's legit. But unfortunately at first glance it grabbed me like the kreatyve names do. :)
