Ryan and Julie were elated when, just ten and a half months after their marriage, they welcomed a little boy! Ryan always wanted a son to be his firstborn, and Joey is as sweet a newborn as Julie could ask for. He was born right on his due date and was completely healthy and able to go home when he was four days old. Ryan and Julie picked out his name because they just liked the sound of the names together.

Ryan is still working at the Chicago Tribune and has moved up to writing a weekly column about people in the community who are perhaps underappreciated for their hard work. Julie is not teaching this year because of Joey's birth, but she hopes to go back to work in a year or two.
