a lot of people might assume that. That's my issue with Alix, it's a form of Alice but everyone would just think "uneducated incorrectly spelt Alex", which is understandable.
It's an interesting name, thanks for sharing your find. Maybe it would be easier to live with as a middle name.

As if a kr8iv form of Annika would be at all difficult to live with.
Annakiya is a neat name. I would be a bit wary of using it because I don't understand it as fully as I do names used in American culture a lot, but it is neat. I like it way more than Annika, which is too precious to me. It has lots of accessible nicknames and two pretty accessible pronunciations. Snappy pronunciations too, that would fit right in with modern names.
And I am sorry that you are going to get between four and twelve responses saying "Looks like kre8ive annika to me even though it isn't and therefore I do not like it." That is very frustrating. It is always frustrating to get more totally boring, obvious, and unhelpful responses than helpful ones. Whenever I ask any sort of question about Rudolf I get four to twelve responses informing me that "all I can think of is the reindeer." Real helpful. Obviously I have considered the reindeer issue. Can't you swallow your associations with Annika and the reindeer a minute and think about the actual name?

I am still baffled over my "Nicknames for Octavia? Please do not suggest Octy, even though it is the most obvious one, I do not like it. Here are other ones I have considered and some of my concerns about them. Which do you like?" and wham bam the first response I got "for Octavia I think Octy would be a good nickname."
I did get some helpful responses out of that though

you'll get an opinion. Unfortunately, it may not be what you are looking for, it may not be necessarily helpful etc, but that doesn't make it any less valid. It sounds a bit like you only want to here the responses that suit your opinion.

And if I am asking for opinions on individual names, "can't get over the reindeer association" or "don't like the nerv in minerva" is totally valid, if annoying. But if I am saying something that requires a teensy bit of thinking such as "What do you think of these combos," "can't get over the reindeer association" is totally not relevant and totally annoying. I do not like the names Spencer and Hamilton, but when I am asked "Wdyt John Spencer and Jude Hamilton" I can say that I think the combos are good and solid. Obviously Diamante04's naming philosophy is different from mine.
If I respond to "Wdyt Jude Hamilton" with "dislike Hamilton because it's a surname and I don't think surnames should be used as given names," that is not relevant to her at all because she thinks it is okay to use Hamilton. She is not asking about my philosophy and I am not telling her anything about her combo.
Furthermore, if I respond to the question "Wdyt Spencer" and I say "I dislike it because it is a surname and I am against using surnames as given names," that is also completely unhelpful. Obviously she has considered that they are surnames and does not mind.
However, if I say something like "I do not like surnames as given names. However since you obv have no problem with it, Spencer is a good handsome sound and very workable and very good in the combo etc" that is a ton more relevant.
So when people say "nms reminds me of the reindeer" it pisses me off a bit. Obviously I have thought about it and would like them to think about it for a second. Is there anything else about it they dislike?

I don't think that was called for. I actually agree with a lot of what you are saying, but the tone in which you're saying it is very arrogant and uppity, whether or not you meant it to be. It would be just as easy for you to reply to the original post and say "I disagree with jeziana. I think Annakiya is fabulous and I don't think it would be hard to live with, nor do I think it looks like a kre8tyv form of Annika."
I understand your frustration with Rudolf. I get the same sort of responses when I post about Valentine. But that's the sort of reaction you're going to get in real life. It's not fair to blame people for stating what is true to them about Rudolf.

Associations are a big part of a name, whether you want them to be or not.

Why worry about whether Alix looks like an "uneducated" version of Alex or that Rudolf is a reindeer? That you like a name and its history, meaning, etc. is what matters. I don't get why some people are so hung up on names like this when so many other people go out of their way to be "unique", using names like McJaydenleigh or whatever. Rudolf, Alix, and Annakiya are interesting, real names.
I'm sorry for you about Octy. That would be a pretty horrible suggestion, even if you hadn't initially rejected it. Thread hijack, but Tova, Vivi, Tia, Ava... all a bazillion times better than Octy.

I just think that maybe it would be frustrating to go through life with people judging your name constantly. Not everyone's a name nerd no matter how much I wish they were. So judging something as a name, and by practicality is a whole different game.
However I've known people with African names, Asian names and Polish names survive just fine, so maybe the comment "hard to live with" was a bit too much, but on my part I think that comment is a lot more helpful than "I dislike it nt" and if it wasn't, then I apologise. Things have to be taken into account.
And I sure hope I've never suggested Octy...
