[Opinions] Re: How do you pronounce Madeline/Madeleine/Madelyn ?
in reply to a message by Lily8
Emphasis on the last syllable in all cases... I know two Madelines who pro. their name mad-eh-LINE.
Madeline - mad-eh-line
Madeleine - mad-eh-layne (not really layne, more like leyne, if that makes sense)
Madelyn - mad-eh-lyn
I know quite a few very young girls named Madelyn/Maddie, and one named Madeleine. I know three older Madelines, 1 in IL, 1 in FL, and 1 in England... so, to me, the name doesn't seem all that common - not as common as Emily, Elizabeth, Amanda, Jessica, Jennifer, etc... where I know literally dozens of girls with each of those names.
I feel it is getting popular, though that might just be because of its similarity to Madison, which there are way too many of! lol
My personal fav out of the three is Madeleine.
