One syllable names are tough for me. Most of the time I think they are bland, and Elle is no exception. Elle seems more substantial than Ella, but not as substantial as Ellen, Elinor or Eleanor.
The few one syllable names I do like, I find particularly striking, like Noor. Noor would be a good nickname for Elinor.
