Too surnamey, I much prefer Hudson (strange, its a surname too, I don't know why I prefer this); Jude & Judah.
My husband loves this name! I dont mind it but I have a thing about names ending with "son" (mostly with girls though). I agreed to have it as a middle name if we have a boy. So I guess my answer is yes I like it :)

I don't completely hate Judd as a nn for a boy though. It is kind of cowboy cool like Jed, but I really don't like any name that Judd could be a nn for. Judson sounds so pretentious, trendy and clunky.

It may be trendy now (is it?), but didn't this used to be a fairly
popular name in the southern part of the United States?

I don't like it.
I don't like surnames as first names unless they are part of the recipient's heritage. Even then, I prefer them in the mn spot. I dislike -son surnames as first names for the additional reason that the boy is not (or probably not) Jud's son (or whatever).
