I can remember when I thought that Hermione was pronounced HER-mee-one. And that was well into my adulthood. Somewhere along the line I became aware of its correct pronunciation, I can't remember when or how. I suppose the Harry Potter connection will make the general public aware of the right way to pronounce it.

Even with its correct pronunciation, though, I think that it's terribly unattractive. No, I can't imagine a real life little Hermione, though I suppose there's bound to be one.
