[Facts] Re: Question:the pronunciation of "Irene" ?--What is the stress of "Irene" in USA
in reply to a message by S
The stress is on the last syllable "ir-ENE" in American pronunciation, but it's still considered wrong if you look back at how it's supposed to be pronounced in original Greek. It's is pronounced "ee-rEE-nEE"in Greek. It means "peace".

I think all of them are OK :/EYE-reen/ or /eye-REEN/ or /eye-REE-nee/, just depends on one's own choice. But I don't know how to choose between /EYE-reen/ and /eye-REEN/ .
Can any one give me a suggestion?
