[Opinions] Re: Henly wdyt?
in reply to a message by E.Tracy
Henleigh is the first name of the unpleasant man that Gwendolen marries in 'Daniel Deronda' (Victorian novel by George Eliot). I think she probably invented it, as British births, marriages and deaths don't show any real people called Henleigh, although there are a few Henleys (all male).
Henley's also a place - Henley-on-Thames, an expensive place to live that's mainly known for its regatta on the river every year.
It's not something I'd use as I don't like place-names much, but it's not outrageous, although it does sound very male to me because it's so like Henry. I'd spell it Henley though if you're going to use it.
