[Opinions] Delphine
Hey gang. It's been a while.
I was in Verbier on Sunday watching a showjumping competion and one of the riders was named Delphine. Now my love of this name goes way back but it's been on the Middle Name list forever and seing it IRL got me thinking about it as a first name again.
So WDYT of Delphine, occasional nns Della & Delphi?
WDYT of the combo Delphine Lucy Eloise?
Any other middle name suggestions for me?
TIA advance. It's good to be back!

I can't seem to get enough of it. It's one of my faves.
I adore the nickname Delphi. Della is okay, but my pick would definitely be Delphi.
Lucy is cute, but I only like it as a nickname for a person. I prefer Lucinda, Lucia, and Lucina with Lucy as a nickname as opposed to just Lucy. I don't care for Eloise because of the "wheeze" sound.
Combos:
Delphine Lucinda
Delphine Laura
Delphine Laure
Delphine Georgia
Delphine Pearl
Delphine Victoria
Delphine Veronica
Delphine Odessa
Delphine Eirlys
Delphine Alaia
Delphine Alaia Xanthe
Delphine Octavia
Delphine Octavia Xanthe
Delphine Rebecca
Delphine Coralie
Delphine Rosalie
Delphine Rosalind
Delphine Rosalia
Delphine Rosa

oh wow, thanks!
There is some great suggestions there. I love how you used some of my other favourites. I've given up on Delphine Lucy Eloise, it's not right, so will be going over your list a few times to try and find some new ideas. At a glance, my favourites are Delphine Samara and Delphine Clara, but there are lots of good ones.
As for Lucy and Eloise, they are honouring and are very important to me, so they are pretty much set. I'll change the first name to fit them, rather than the other way round!

I love Delphine. I met one when I was about 16, and she was probably 10ish. I think it's really pretty! I like the nicknames, but much prefer Della to Delphi.
While I love the names Lucy and Eloise, Delphine Lucy Eloise has too much 'EE' in it for me.
Just off the top of my head, I like the sound of Delphine Elspeth Moira & Delphine Augusta Mireille.

Delphine Augusta Mireille is a stunner. I like Delphine Elspeth Moira too.
It's a sugary sweet favorite for me.
I think it would make a fine first name. I love the aquatic-dolphin-y feeling. Smooth and sleek. Della and Delphi are cute nicknames. Della brings Delphine down to earth a bit. Delphi makes her quirkier. You could also use Del and Phi (fee).
I'm certainly no expert on three name combos, but I'm not feeling the flow of Delphine Lucy Eloise. Too many Ls maybe? I do like Delphine Eloise though. If I was trying to put three names together, I'd put a one-syllable one in the middle here I think. Delphine Mae Eloise or soemthing.
Good luck.

Thank you! I feel the smae way about all 3 names. I'm sure Del and Phi would be natural shortenings as well, and I don't have a problem with that, although I do prefer Della and Delphi.
I'm still working on the combo, I decided I'm not happy with those middle names either. Thanks for the suggestion, I like it.
Good luck to you too! Can't wait to hear of Baby Freckles arrival. Hopefully not long now (for your sake!)

I really can't stand it. I don't get why people seem to like it so much. It sounds weird and it always makes me think of dolphins. And it's kind of pretentious. Can't say I like any of the nicknames either (sorry).
Honestly? I think it sound pretentious and cold.
I'm not crazy about either Della OR Delphi. I'd keep it in the MN spot.

I love this name - Delphi makes a cute nn but Delphine is sleek and sophisticated. I also like its dual nature links - to delphinium and dolphin.
Do you mean Delphine LaLaurie?
Had never heard of her, but now I've read it it doesn't put me off it. Not a nice person, but your talking to a person who would use Jemima in a heartbeat, and this strikes me as a lot more obscure association, given that you are the only person who has ever mentioned it.
I just have to go and track down a couple of positive associations to balance it out ;)
