What do you think of the name Gwen? Do you like it better on it's own or as a nickname for say Gwendolyn or Guinevere?
The name hasn't been in my top 10 or even top 20 for a long time, but I still find myself liking it.
What middles names do you like, using either Gwen or a longer version of the name, as the first name?

I love Gwen, Gwendolen (this spelling) and Guinevere and I think Gwen is lovely either as a nickname for Gwendolen or on its own; it feels complete, warm and lovely. For me, Gwen feels less intuitive as a nickname for Guinevere so I'd probably go with something like "Winnie" or "Vera" that *sounds* closer to Guinevere, or even "Gigi", going off of the first letter. I made a bunch of combos for Gwen quite a while back but I don't have access to them right now. How about...

I like it but not as much as I used to. I quite like it as a nn for Guinevere =)

I *love* Gwendolyn / Gwendolen / Gwendoline "Gwen". I think it's simply wonderful. A classic, somewhat proper name with a fun, spunky nickname. Feminine, yet not. Yes.
Guinevere "Gwen" is cool but kind of counter-intuitive. Unless it's written 'Guin' (which looks bad) it's gonna look a little odd written down, if not spoken.
As a first name on it's own, however, I don't like it. I find it too trendy-minimalist, like Brynn, Ava, Penn, Ella etc. I think it's strictly a nickname.
Combos: I used Gwendolen, but I'm moving towards Gwendolyn and that could work too. Gwen as a nn for all combos. First set I used your PNL (hope that's okay), second I used my own random suggestions.

It's my top name for a girl :) I go back and forth over wether I prefer it on its own or as a nn for Gwenith. Right now I think I like just Gwen. I don't care for Gwendolyn and Guinevere is pretty but too flowery for my personal taste. I have a realy hard time coming up with combos at all let alone any that I love. I'm curious to see any suggestions ;)

However, I have know a couple of Gwendolyns too (one always goes by the full Gwendolyn) and they were all stellar people. One is quite successful, singing in the Berlin Opera in Germany.
